Providence
The King’s Court is filled with courtiers but the King is seeking only one High Courtier.
Providence is a trick-taking card game with variable powers.Each player represents a courtier influencing as many Clergy, Nobility and Serfs as possible; attaining Prestige, thus gaining the King’s favor.When the game ends, the player who has earned the most Prestige wins, and is crowned the new High Courtier.
Each player turn, a player must either play a Clergy into Council (grant variable powers), or start a Challenge (in this game, a trick is called a Challenge).The Challenge winner adds to their Score Pile, all the cards played during the Challenge.When the game ends, players gain Prestige for the number of cards in their Score Pile and of those cards, the cards with Prestige.The player with the most Prestige wins.
